Yum! I lahk-it-alat! The chicken chimmichanga was delicious.Cooked with green chiles! And my husbands tamale was one of the best Ive tried, really moist with losts of shredded pork. Wish one of the locations were closer to SLP.

Have eaten here before and had OK meals, but tonight, it seemed nothing was right. We arrived and the chips tasted burnt, the waitress didn't come for twenty minutes, when we asked if we could get different chips she said lots have been complaining about the chips but that was all the chips they had available, our drink order was wrong, and I ordered the steak fajita burrito and was given the chicken one instead. Add to that the belligerent patrons smoking right outside the entrance (Acapulco has placed ashtrays there even though it is illegal to let people smoke outside entrances.) Not a good night. Maybe they just had an off night, but it seemed like way too many things were going wrong.

My family ate here at 700 on a thursday night. It was not that busy but the waitress acted like she was very overwhelmed. She said "what?" after everything that we ordered. She brought out our drinks a few at a time and forgot our childs apple juice two times. We waited over an hour for our food, nothing special, tacos. Finally she stopped over and said she thought our order had been lost. Several minutes later, some of our food was brought out while we continued to wait for more. No mention was made of taking any price off the meal, and no appology was made. Really would not consider visiting again.

Good place to eat with reasonable prices and portions! Although I would venture to say that if you are looking for authentic Mexican food you won't find that here. It's a little bit "Americanized" but if that doesn't matter to you then never mind! They also play good Reggaeton music which is cool if you're in to that!

I wish I could give 0 stars! Poorly assembled, low-quality food... Slow service and the food is just as bland as a glass of water!

Their computers were having problems, and that is understandable... what isn't understandable is the stupidity their staff has. If your computer system is not working then go use your MOUTH to tell the cooks what needs to be cooked! We sat down at the table and the host immediately brought us chips. The waitress came over to take our drink order, but didn't bring us water. We waited 10 minutes or more, and finally asked for some water from the host. The waitress came over after the host brought our water, and explained that the computer was having problems, so she had to tell the bar again about our drinks... She FINALLY asked what we wanted to order. It took her 15-20 minutes to even ask about any food orders! Now at this time we realize the computer is having problems, which shouldn't be so much of an issue. YOU HAVE A MOUTH that can tell food orders to the chefs. I asked her about 10 minutes after we ordered food how long it would take, and she said at least 15 minutes. It doesn't take that long to cook some ground beef for a taco salad... The table next to us turned around and asked why it was taking so long and what their issue was. They upped and left without getting any food orders, and they had been sitting there when we arrived. We have been here once before, and the food was below average with slow service. We wanted to give it a second chance since it is so close to where we live. We went to La Casita about 5-10 minutes away and food served almost right away. This is the LAST time I will TRY to eat here.

We met there for birthday lunch for my wife. We have been fans of Acapulco for a long time, our first visit was years ago the first week they opened. I used to work in the area so lunch was almost a weekly tradition. Lunch yesterday was good as always. I had the lunch chimichanga, i love it cause it comes slathered in the their cheese sauce and I always get beans instead of rice because there is nothing better than dipping the warm tortilla chips in refried beans and cheese sauce. We are big fans of Acapulco.

We should have known better when the waiter couldn't remember who got the water and who got the iced tea. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time but soon two other people were seated next to us. Our order was taken and about 5 or 10 minutes later our food was promptly given to the other table. One of them put his fork in the food at which point they said that this was not what they ordered. We said that's okay and to take it back and make it over for us. 5 minutes later we were promptly given cold food that had been given to the other table. Yuck. It's the first time we did not tip but we should have known better and just left. The better bet is La Casitas in Roseville on the corner of 35w and hwy 36. They never disappoint. The only other thing I can say is I wish I could rate this lower than 1 star.

Love the seafood chimichangas. This place has a good mix of Mexican foods, is real generous with the chips and salsa, and there always seems to be a table open. We do to-go orders too and that always works well. This and Guiseppe's Italian are the nearest sit down restaurants in the neighborhood. Smashburger is the next nearest another mile or so down the road. It's nice to have a good reliable place close by.

This place is average I would say. The food is pretty typical of a Mexican restaurant. So if your looking for just some average Mexican food and not too bad Margaritas I would suggest here. The server was a little slow to get our drinks but other than that wasn't too bad. Just a thing of guacamole is over five bucks so that's kinda a rip off. Nothing about here is impressive but when I am in the mood for Mexican food I'll come here again. It satisfies my cravings.

Weren't greeted... Even though the manager walked past us twice. So we asked a server if we could seat ourselves in the bar area. She said "yes." Then we waited for 5 minutes, 2 wait staff and the manager again walked by us without any acknowledgement. So we left and no one noticed that we left.

I walked into this restaurant with fairly low expectations considering it's a chain Mexican place in a strip mall in the suburbs. I was incredibly surprised that they didn't even come close to reaching my low expectations. I figured the food and service would at least be adequate. They were not. It was a Wednesday night and fairly slow. However, that didn't keep us from waiting about 10 minutes to get a server to acknowledge our presence and simply bring us water. Even after asking another server who was passing by about chips and salsa, it still took another 5-10 minutes to get those. In the meantime, tables of patrons who arrived after us seemed to have no problem. We felt like we were invisible. I'm generally patient with servers, but we were with our four-year-old son, who has a rather limited attention span. Thus, I really appreciate it when a server puts some effort into moving things along. From there, things just got worse when it came to quality of the food. I ordered the chicken chimichangas. They're described as deep fried, so I expected something that might resemble a crispy shell. The two mounds of mush came swimming in their "Famous Cheese Sauce," which was nasty, lukewarm and with a skin. The filling was edible, but whoppee, without a crunchy outside, what's the point of ordering chimichangas. I was so disappointed with the meal that I nearly burst out laughing when the server asked me if I wanted a to-go box for my barely picked over excuse for a meal. My husband ordered the torta and was equally disappointed. And the fries served with my son's kid's meal were pretty nasty - over cooked and on the cool side. When you're a family who doesn't eat out a whole lot, it's really sad to dump $40 on a meal this terrible. Please save yourself some money and take your business somewhere else. This place is not worthwhile. When we drove away my son saw a McDonald's and exclaimed in a way that only a 4-year-old can, "there's the best restaurant ever." At that point in the evening, I couldn't agree with him more - and I hate McDonald's.

I've been to this location before and have had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, when I returned for today's lunch, I was very disappointed. The service we received was awful: Inattentive and rushed. After the server asked for our drink order, he didn't return for quite some time. We finally placed our order, and when I had to stop the server to request a drink, he looked back and walked away. I went and ordered my drink from the bar since he was too hurried to take the order at the table. When our food came, a different server dropped it off, and we gave her our coupon we brought in. She said she would take care of it for us. We waited for our server to return. The servers never returned to ask how our food was, if we needed anything additional, and never once refilled our drinks. We ended up having to signal our original server to our table for a refill on a drink, take-home containers, and the bill. When the bill came, the coupon was never applied as had been previously promised. In light of all events, we did not leave a tip. I'm so disappointed in today's service, and I will not be returning. The restaurant was slow when we arrived, and by the time we left, traffic started to pick up. We would have understood if the servers made any effort to help us or let us know they were short staffed, etc., but we were left on our own the entire lunch.

How haven't I written a review on this place? Seriously, I've been here about 6 times since the new year and I've been yelping all that time. Sheesh. My favorite thing about this place is the huge beer you get for $4. And it complements all the food too! Their soft shell tacos are excellent if you want something light and portioned. Now to the important part, the Nachos Compuestos. I ordered these on my recent visit and if I rated on their nachos alone, I would only give it 2 stars. There was lots of toppings on it. In fact, too many toppings. I couldn't find the chips and when I did they were soggy! I don't know if they were thinking that I'd use the basket of chips that came when we sat down, or what. It just didn't work for me. There was too much lettuce on it, they did use real cheese on it, so that's a plus. But when it come to nachos, I'd prefer to go else where.

Monday night tacos were a weekly tradition for 6 years! I love Acapulco, their delicious food, cheap prices and unlimited chips and salsa. Although I'm sad I'm no longer able to attend on a weekly basis, I know that I can always return during any night of the week for some amazing tacos. Run...don't walk...to your local Acapulco Mexican Restaurant.

Much better than your typical Mexica food! Choice of sides included black beans, which had lots of flavor; seasonal vegetables which was steamed squash, zucchini, onions, corn, and black beans, very yummy; and side salad, which was green and red leaf lettuce. Nice surprise. Service was great and place was nice inside. Highly recommend!

Where to start? I'll start with the good- the service was good. Our server was prompt with drinks, refills, and very pleasant. The food was the big letdown. The chips were stale, the salsa seemed to consist of canned crushed tomatoes (maybe they were fresh, couldn't really say) with a little jalapeño seeds for heat. No onion, no cilantro. Hmmm. Not an auspicious start. I ordered two enchiladas, one beef, one chicken. The filling was good, the sauce poured on top was so-so. My refried beans were watery, could have used a spoon. My seasonal vegetables were interesting. Corn, black beans, red pepper, green beans, squash and zucchini. This could have been really good. Instead, the beans, squash and veggies had been left on the cooking surface too long, and were scorched. So the whole thing tasted like charcoal. Not adding this to my list of places to try again.

Seriously I LOVE this place! I have been coming here (all locations) for about 4 years... AND I CANT GET ENOUGH! I still stand by the chicken ANYTHING! And you MUST add the cheese sauce! PLEASE check them out, its worth it!

I love to come here and get the Chimichangas. The chicken ones are the best, imo. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are good. They put a wonderful cheese sauce on the top. The only thing I would say is that the spanish rice is a little bland. It has peas in it, and not a lot of seasoning. But the chimichangas come with guacamole.

We went yesterday for dinner after doing the suburban mall thing and was really bummed out about the service! They had one server left, and there were maybe 4-5 tables, but most seemed to be already eating their dinners. We thought it was going to be good service when the person who sat us asked if we wanted a drink right away. I was actually kind of thrown off and just blurted out a soft drink because I hadn't had a chance to look at the drink menu. It took about 10 minutes for our server to greet us, and she didn't even say hello or sorry. "So, you ready to order?" We ordered the famous cheese dip and time went on...and then the hostess/manager? brought out our dinners. So I guess no cheese dip for us. Which is kind of depressing, because that's the BEST thing there! She offered to pack it to go, but we just asked to not have it and take it off the bill. Our food was fine. My boyfriend prefers super hot food (temperature) and it was colder than he liked. Our server was fine, after the manager went back and probably told her that we didn't get our cheese she came out and refilled our drinks, but never asked how our food was. She finally did, a little while later. I'm big on the 30-60 second check (as you can tell, I've served before). We got our soft drinks taken off the bill because of the wait, which was nice, I guess, but even after the late greeting the service was off par. It's the risk we take when we eat later at night, but I think it could have been manageable. We may check out another location, or just stick to the cities for eating Mexican.

Went in to enjoy a $5 margarita on weekday afternoon. Sat down and was served immediately. I had planned on ordering lunch but the bartender took off and I didn't see him for a half hour. Also was never offered a menu, chips or anything. Another customer who came in grabbed a server after five minutes of waiting and asked for service. After two other customers across the bar finally found someone to close their tab I was offered a refill. I declined and paid my $5 for the drink. No tip. Unbeliveable.

I don't think we'll ever come back here. Our waitress was nice and always made sure we had a full supply of chips and beverages but that's where the good things ended. The restaurant was pretty empty and it still took 30 minutes to get our food. During our wait, we had the pleasure of listening to the bartender and staff complain about other patrons and employees like no one was around. We also had the pleasure of listening to plates drop and break as well as cups always falling. The staff in the front was nice enough to scream to the back kitchen in response to each of the items falling. When our 2 salads (with a slice of garlic bread that looked and felt like it was left in a vat of butter) and wrap (which arrived more than 5 minutes after our salads) finally arrived, my boyfriend noticed his order was incorrect. After already waiting 30 minutes, there was no way he wanted to wait that long again. The manager came after our meal was over but hardly did anything to remedy the situation. My recommendation: go to Taco Bell or Chipotle. You'll get better food for much less. You'll also get what you ordered way quicker.

I've been her half a dozen times in the last 12 months. Every time I go I say I'm not going back.the food is just disappointing. Tonight I ordered toquitos. It was just a couple bland pieces of chicken wrapped in a tortilla and deep fried. I had to break off big chunks of the tortilla which was over done to eat the toquito and it was just gross. The toquitos at SA are more enjoyable. I was fed up with the disappointment and told the manager I was not paying full price for them. I'm upset that she thought that nothing should be done about the food they're cooking she just told me that's what a toquito is 'a little bit of meat in a 6" tortilla." She lectured me on how next time I should say something right away so they can bring me something else and not have to give me a discount. Once again I thought to myself, "I'm never coming back here" chipotle is so much better and it's the same price with a beer two meals and chips and salsa.

This place is my guilty pleasure. It's pretty much like any Don Pablos in many ways. Mexican-American food is inherently awesome and hard to screw up, BUT, their white cheese sauce is something of a legend. Gooey, liquid heaven. I genuinely believe that putting that cheese sauce on anything would make it the best thing you ever ate. I actually bought a quart of it for a super bowl party - I pretended it was homemade, but then people started asking for the recipe and I had to fess up (not that I haven't tried and failed). So basically I would say order aything on their menu that comes with cheese sauce and you won't be disappointed.

At least there was service! After leaving the Maplewood location, we drove the 9 minutes to New Brighton. Note - we waited longer at Maplewood for service than it took to drive somewhere else. Ordered tacos and a Corona Light. I'm irritated, we eat, limited amounts of chips since we've already had a basket, pay the bill and go. The server was nice enough and the food was hot and came out quick, but I'm sticking to Woodbury.

Two Words: Seafood Chimichanga. Oh yes. Tons of seafood, rice, monterey cheese sauce, and white queso. It's seriously one of the most amazing chimi's I have ever had in my entire life and I have BEEN to Mexico on several occasions. The only thing missing is a mariachi band, other than that this place is the real deal, and New Brighton's location is great, it's not even CLOSE to as busy as some of the other locations.

I enjoy this place deep down to the bottom of my heart. Me and a couple girlfriends go to this place on Mondays when they have their 75 cent taco nights. The tacos are always fresh, fast and tasty! We usually get cheese dip with our tortilla chips and salsa (which are free) and they always make sure we have EVERYTHING we want. They are great at making sure to split tabs and they carry a variety of seasonal beers (such as Summer Shandy from Leinies). Which, by the way, tall beers on Mondays are only $4! I haven't really ever gone to this location on a night other than Monday, but I would assume the service is great since they are very fast and friendly on their very busy Mondays. The only thing missing from this location is outside seating! :(

I was so not interested in checking out Acapulco when it opened up in my neighborhood. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food, it seemed to chain-y to be very good. But an unexpected offer from grandma to babysit and my husband's passionate desire to check out Acapulco overruled me. I was immediately impressed that a twelve-year-old was our greeter. Seriously. In my reasoning, the only reason a twelve-year-old would be greeter is if her family owned the business; a good sign. The little blurb on the menu said that although Acapulco is a chain, it is also a family run business (rather than run by a bunch of suits in an office somewhere, with no taste for the food). I can't remember what dear husband had, all I remember is that the arroz con pollo was delicious! Heavy on the pollo (nicely seasoned and shredded) and not overpoweringly spiced. Delicious. Make sure you still have plenty of the complementary chips because a little arroz con pollo + chips = tasty nachos. Also, I suggest you ask for a side of sour cream, it really added to the dish. Oh, and the complementary chips were really good! I didn't like the salsa so much, but it seemed fresh, and the chips were warm but I couldn't tell if they were just warmed up or truly made here. Anyway, we'll go back I'm sure. Anyone want to babysit?

Not to bad. Food was good. Service was good. Decor was a little cheesy. No complaints, it just didn't wow me. LaCasita is just a couple miles away.

Two words for you friend, CHEESE DIP. I have no idea if it's authentic to Mexican cuisine, but holy cats it is good. It reminds me of a place in my hometown called El Mariachi, that has the best white queso dip in existence, but I digress. The service is good and I go here every Tuesday for their size-of-a-horse's-head margaritas (yeah, the glass is big) and I feel kinda sheepish now because the waitstaff is starting to recognize me. Instead of going to La Casita in Roseville or, Ole Mexico on Laurpender, head on over to Acapulco in New Brighton. It only a skip away from you Nordeasters...there really is no excuse not to!

Homemade chips & salsa served complimentary. Chicken & Beef Chimi's very good flavor. Chicken was the best. Lots of meat! Covered in cheese sauce. Could have been more crispy. Beef fajitas, very good! Service was very good. The food comes out lightning fast.

Let me start off by saying I would like to give this place NO stars but that is not an option. I chose this place for my birthday dinner. I love Mexican food and I have never been here before so I thought it would be a nice, low key place to enjoy a meal with family and friends. I wasn't particularly fond of our waitress. Now, I'm a waitress myself so I understand it gets really busy and you're always rushing around but she wasn't very attentive. I can over look that a tad. Well, what really kills this place for me was the food. Nearly everyone's food was cold and not too tasty and the chicken that I had in my meal was RAW. I was disgusted. I thought that maybe it was just fat but then when I saw that it was pink, I was immediately done with it. This was the first time in my life that I had EVER been served RAW chicken at a restaurant. Whoever "cooked" this must have had their head in their ass. I'm lucky that I saw it was raw before I consumed any or I could have gotten very sick. This is absolutely uncalled for and I wouldn't hesitate to fire the person that cooked this because it is not a simple mistake, this was a really serious issue that should NEVER happen with qualified cooks in the kitchen. Clearly this location doesn't expect much from the people they hire. We had this taken off our bill, but even if it wasn't, I still wouldn't have paid. In my opinion, the manager should have came over, talked to us, and taken care of the situation. Unless you like mediocre service and raw food, I would NEVER recommend this location. This doesn't go for all Acapulco locations, just the one in New Brighton. Even so, I will never try this place again. Waste of time and money.

I've eaten at Acapulco twice... well, no I ate there on site twice and picked up once, and each time my experience has been stellar! Last night I was coming home from work early with a terrible cold, aching for a cup of hot chicken noodle soup and a cozy blanket. I had no soup at home, and couldn't imagine trolling into a grocery store for a tragic can of Campbells. Then I remembered last April, when I had been suffering from a similar cold, but had gone out with my family to Acapulco. I'd had the Chicken Sopa then and it had been exactly what I'd needed. I called them before I left and was delighted to find that I could pick up a bowl of soup on my way home. They didn't have my soup ready at the front, because THEY HAD TO PREPARE IT FOR ME FRESH! Which is in no way suggesting I waited long. I showed up, paid my bill, and waited not 5 minutes for the waiter to go in the kitchen and pick it up for me. I not only got the soup, but chips and salsa too! Now for the soup. I'd not chicken noodle, but something even better. Not too spicy or too mild, but the perfect thing you want for a head cold or a cloudy night. The meat isn't in little hunks, but breast meat, still more or less together, and pleasantly seasoned. There's hunks of Avocado and tomatoes and other soup like veggies in there, as well as tiny little rice grains that give the soup heartiness without being overly thick or inauthentic. The soup comes with a wedge of lime and I strongly recommend you use it, since the stock is just a tiny bit salty, but hey! That's why the lime is there. I plan on making Acapulco my new Go-To stop for a good meal, any day of the week.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
